What young boy
hasn't owned at least a few baseball cards during their
childhood? How about all the adults who have
fond memories of collecting and trading baseball cards with
friends when they were kids. I remember when a pack of
1980 Topps could be bought for just 25¢. I was 9 years
old then, and felt like opening a pack of cards was the most
exciting thing in the world. (My 11 year old son has paid
almost $4 for a pack of Yu-Gi-Oh cards!)
Remember the nasty,
hard, stale gum? Sometimes gum would stick to either the
front or back of cards and ruin them before you even opened the
pack. At least Fleer and Donruss decided to add either a
sticker or puzzle pieces that would make a puzzle of a
superstar. (Donruss puzzle pieces never seemed to fit
together quite right.)
I sold most of my
sports cards years ago, but I kept most of the ones that had some kind
of sentimental value to me. They took up too much space
and were difficult to pack and move without damaging them. |
