Al Kaline spent 21
years in the Major Leagues with the Detroit Tigers and became
the 12th member of the 3000 Hit Club, becoming the first
American Leaguer to reach the milestone since Eddie Collins
recorded the feat nearly a half century before. Kaline's
landmark hit came against the Baltimore Orioles on Sept. 24,
1974. The 16-time
All-Star finished an impressive career
with a lifetime batting average of .297, with 399 home runs and
1583 RBI's before being enshrined into the Baseball
Hall of Fame in 1980. |
